Acknowledgement of Country
The Oceania Province acknowledges the first nations people as the traditional custodians of the lands where we are located and recognise that these lands have extensive significance in term of relationship for them. These lands continue to be sacred to all.
We hail the custodians as guardians of our Earth community and of all things that grow and breed in the soil; as trustees of the waters – the seas, the streams and rivers, the ponds and the lakes - and the rich variety of life in those waters. We thank them for passing this wisdom and heritage to all people since the dawn of time.
We acknowledge the wrongs done to first nations peoples by newcomers to these lands; that the land was never given away and we seek to be partners with them in righting the wrongs and in living together in peace and harmony with all life. As we do this, we also acknowledge the loss of the hunting grounds, the destruction of the ceremonial places and sacred sites, and the great loss of life from all kinds of violence and disease. We acknowledge the voices of all peoples of Oceania and Earth as the Voice from the Heart and listen respectfully so as to learn from them.
